President TRUMP signed an executive order imposing a 10% global tariff on imports from all countries, effective almost immediately. The move comes hours after the Supreme Court struck down his earlier emergency-based tariff authority in a 6-3 decision. The new tariffs, enacted under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, will last for 150 days as the administration investigates alleged trade imbalances.

Markets are preparing for heightened volatility as global trade tensions reignite. The abrupt policy shift follows a legal rebuke from the judiciary, forcing the administration to pivot to alternative statutory authority. Trump framed the tariffs as a temporary measure during a five-month assessment period of international trade practices.
